Transfusion medicine is a dynamic, multi-faceted specialty that combines blood banking, immunohematology, coagulation, hematology, and transplant science. It plays a critical role in successful organ transplantation- ranging from assessing donor-recipient blood compatibility to preventing rejection and minimizing complications in collaboration with transplant physicians.
