The Institute has both acute and maintenance hemodialysis patients, which is uncommon for tertiary care Institutes of this stature. Dialysis facilities are provided 24x7. Dialysis is provided through a variety of vascular accesses, including AV Fistula, grafts, short-term and long-term catheters. With a wide patient catchment as in IKDRC, there is a wide variety of clinical scenarios to which a trainee will get exposure. Trainees also gain experience from exposure to peritoneal dialysis and renal transplant patients, which compliments their training in hemodialysis.
